"Time Travellers" is a large scale brick art installation which was commissioned for the new Sydney Central Station upgrade. The artwork was designed in collaboration with Woods Bagot and in partnership with international engineering and construction company Laing O'Rourke and Sydney Metro.
The heritage interpretation for the project was overseen by Artefact Heritage, who were nominated for their work in the Architecture category of the 2024 National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards.
The overall concept for this artwork has emerged from a lifetime of investigating the layers of human existence and the molecular component of the DNA of ancient Aboriginal Australia that I am connected to through my family. My vision is to honour the fallen, who have returned to the earth, and the layers of ancestors that lie under the contemporary world of Sydney.
I believe our old people are our guides and will offer smooth transitions when respect is acknowledged. The tunnelling and excavation of the country needs to celebrate the unseen of the city, which is Aboriginal Australia.
